High Peak’s MP recently reached the key milestone of 60,000 individual cases raised on behalf of his constituents – believed to be the highest amount in the whole country.

Case 60,000 was from Hadfield resident Dave Williamson, who was concerned about potholes on the junction of Shaw Lane and Brookfield.

After Robert Largan MP raised the issue with Derbyshire County Council, work was swiftly undertaken to get the road back to a good condition.

The Government has recently announced £176.1 million of additional long-term funding for Derbyshire’s road maintenance as is part of a wider £8.3 billion investment, enough to resurface over 5,000 miles of road across the country over the next 11 years.

This badly needed funding will help to improve the quality of local roads, lowering vehicle maintenance costs for workers, families & business. It’s one of the key cornerstones of ‘Network North’ to improve journeys for all.

Over the last 4 years, Robert has taken up 60,000 individual cases on behalf of local people. He has replied to 112,850 emails, as well as countless letters, phone calls, surgery appointments and doorstep conversations.

It is believed that this is the highest number of cases of any MP elected in 2019.

Robert met with Dave Williamson to inspect the road junction after work was completed.

Local resident Dave Williamson said:

I have been a resident in Hadfield for 10 years and Glossop for 47 years and am proud of our local area.

I’ve raised a number of complaints about the state of the roads with Robert Largan MP.  Robert has taken up all these issues and the kerbs on Norfolk Street and roads such as Ellison Street, High Street West, Station Road and Shaw Lane have all had repairs completed.

Robert is a person who gets the job done and I am very grateful to him for his support!

Commenting, Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, said:

I am really proud to go the extra mile to help local people. Over the last 4 years, my office and I have been working hard and I’m proud to hit this 60,000 case milestone.

I’m grateful to Dave for raising these potholes with me and I’m really glad that Derbyshire County Council have carried out the repair work. But there’s lots more to do!

I’ll keep working hard with local people to make the High Peak even better!
