Residents of Old Glossop have recently been inconvenienced by construction traffic for the Hawkshead Mill site, which has resulted in lorries blocking narrow roads—particularly along Hope Street.
At the end of October, after being contacted by several constituents, MP for High Peak, Robert Largan, requested an urgent meeting between the developers, High Peak Borough Council, Derbyshire County Council and Old Glossop Residents’ Association (OGRA).
At the meeting it was agreed between the two councils that the Construction Management Plan (CMP) would be signed off, which enables enforcement action to be taken should there be any further breaches.
Construction traffic will use the route detailed in the CMP. The developer agreed to put signs up along the route for construction traffic to follow, which has now been done.
The agents for the developers agreed to be the contact point for any complaints, with their contact details placed on a board at the site entrance. They will also inform Old Glossop Residents’ Association in advance of any large vehicles—such as low loaders—being due on-site, so that residents will have sufficient warning.
Robert Largan MP commented:
“I'm pleased that some progress has been made, and I hope that this will help minimise further traffic issues and reduce the impact on residents.
“I will continue to monitor the situation closely, and respond to residents’ concerns.”
