Local MP, Robert Largan, and Derbyshire Police & Crime Commissioner, Angelique Foster, joined Buxton Police on patrol in Harpur Hill this weekend to discuss local crime issues.

Mr Largan made the case for more police resources to be deployed to Buxton on an ongoing basis. The meeting continues the local MP’s focus on crime and policing and his efforts to help make the High Peak an even safer place to live.

After several assaults in Buxton recently, Mr Largan has organised a Buxton Policing Forum so residents can ask the police questions about preventing and tackling such crimes.

The forum will take place at 7:00 pm on Thursday 27 January 2022. Residents must register to attend online and can ask the Police questions in advance at robertlargan.co.uk/buxtonforum.

This follows the success of similar forums held for residents in Fairfield, Hadfield, and Chinley.

Robert Largan, MP for the High Peak, commented:

“It was good to join Police & Crime Commissioner Angelique Foster and Buxton Police in Harpur Hill over the weekend to discuss local crime issues. I used this excellent opportunity to make the case for getting more police resources for the High Peak.

“For far too long, Derbyshire Constabulary has been too focused on policing in Derby to the detriment of the more northern and rural areas of the county. That needs fixing urgently.”
